(UNDATED) - Hoosiers who sustained damage from severe weather that began Thursday are being asked to report damage online by visiting www.in.gov/dhs.
Individuals will be asked to provide their name, address, phone number, damage to property and type of damage the property sustained.
Losses can include structural damage to homes and loss of personal property. The report is not an application for assistance.
Information will be used to help local emergency management agencies and Indiana Department of Homeland Security assess damage to determine if federal assistance eligibility.
Indiana 9th District Rep. Todd Young and Sen. Dick Lugar said over the weekend they would join Gov. Mitch Daniels in seeking federal assistance for storm-stricken areas.
