(UNDATED) - Gasoline purchased from March 3-12 at 218 gasoline outlets in 48 counties in Kentucky and Indiana, including some stations in Orange County, should not be used in small engines.
This includes chain saws, leaf blowers, generators, lawn mowers, motorcycles, boats, ATVs and other small engines.
The ethanol content of this gasoline may exceed 10 percent, which may cause small engine equipment to run faster and hotter than normal. It may also lead to overheating, increased exhaust temperatures and unintentional clutch engagement.
Gasoline purchased during this time period should not impact cars or trucks.
Call 1-800-892-3418 to arrange to return the unused gasoline and to have your small engine fuel system drained and the fuel replaced, or if you have questions about this advisory.
Related questions and claims may also be submitted below. Marathon Petroleum Company LP (MPC) recently identified a product quality situation at one of its Louisville, Kentucky terminals resulting in the distribution of gasoline containing more than 10 percent ethanol.

According to Eric Elkins, gas at Valley Marathon has been tested and cleared. Elkins also stated that they do not get their gas out of the Louisville market.
