Last updated on Monday, March 5, 2012

(WASHINGTON) - A man is dead following a single-vehicle crash Sunday, south of Washington.

According to Daviess County Sheriff's Department reports at approximately 4:50 p.m., police went to a single-vehicle accident on Troy Rd. near Rolling Hills Rd, south of Washington.

Police say Aaron S. Allison, 25, of Washington was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Allison was traveling north on Troy Road in a 2007 Ford Mustang GT, when for some unknown the vehicle went left of center as he was rounding a curve. Allison over-corrected his vehicle and lost control.

The Ford Mustang slid sideways out of control, left the roadway on the east side, where it struck a concrete step and then a large tree on the driver's side door. After striking the tree, the vehicle rolled over onto its top.

Allison was trapped inside the vehicle. He was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Southwest Medical Ambulance Service, Veale Township Volunteer Fire Department and Washington Township Fire Department.

Allison was pronounced dead at the scene of accident by Daviess County Coroner Dr. Steven Cullen due to massive chest and head injuries. An autopsy has been scheduled and investigation into the accident continues.

Assisting in the investigation were Southwest Medical, Indiana Conservation Officers, the Veale and Washington Township Volunteer Fire Departments.
