Boyfriend Charged In Bloomington Woman's Beating

Last updated on Monday, April 30, 2012

(BLOOMINGTON) - Police are looking for a man who beat his girlfriend so badly she required eye surgery.

Christy Mullins, of the Herald-Times reports the 33-year-old woman met officers at Monroe Hospital Saturday night and reported a man had backhanded her across the face, breaking her right orbital bone and hurting her eye. Both injuries required surgery, according to police.

Lt. Faron Lake of the Bloomington Police Department said the woman told several stories about who had assaulted her before admitting her 33-year-old boyfriend did it. Lake said she originally told police a strange man jumped out of the woods on Amy Lane and punched her in the face.

The woman's official report was that she and her boyfriend began arguing in his car about midnight Saturday. He kicked her out of the car, and she walked back to his apartment on Ind. 446, where the argument turned physical.

Police have filed a probable-cause affidavit for the man's arrest, charging him with Class C felony battery resulting in serious bodily injury, Lake said.
