(SEYMOUR) - A 23-year-old Jackson County woman accused of ramming a golf cart while burglarizing a barn in the Seymour area April 18 has been arrested, police say.
Brittany C. Fish of Brownstown was arrested Thursday morning as she was leaving a scrap metal business in Jennings County. That arrest was made by Jackson County Officer Jeff Walters and state Trooper Stephen Wheeles.
Fish's arrest and the arrests of the driver of the vehicle and a second passenger on Thursday stem from reports of several thefts in Jennings County and one in Jackson County, Walters said.
Walters drove Fish to Jackson County Jail in Brownstown, where the investigation into the April 18 incident continued. She eventually was arrested by county Reserve Officer Scott Davis on a Jackson Circuit Court warrant charging theft and two counts of criminal recklessness with a vehicle. Davis investigated the April 18 incident.
Walters said Fish's arrest stems from the April 18 case in which the owner of property in the 200 block of South County Road 860 East attempted to stop the driver of a vehicle that had been parked near his barn in an apparent attempt to steal items from the barn.
The driver of that vehicle, which was a black Jeep Cherokee, rammed the golf court, shoving it and the property owner out of the way, police said. The man was not injured, but the Jeep left the scene.
Police said they do not believe those arrested played a role in the recent theft of metal from a rural Jackson County bridge. Police have been checking with local scrap yards for anyone trying to dispose of the stolen bridge metal.
