(Dudleytown) - Jackson County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate a burglary discovered by a rural Seymour couple returning home Wednesday afternoon.
Reserve Officer Scott Davis said the couple had been out and returned to their home in the 200 block of South County Road 860 East in the Dudleytown area.
When they arrived home, they said they found a black Jeep Cherokee at their barn, and the driver of that vehicle was apparently preparing to load up items from a barn.
The driver, described as a white female with brunette hair in a ponytail, climbed into the Jeep and attempted to drive away, Davis said.
But the male homeowner attempted to block the Jeep with a golf cart that he was driving, Davis said.
The driver of the Jeep hit the golf cart, shoving it and the homeowner out of the Jeep's path. The man was not injured, Davis said.
The Jeep left the property and was last seen headed south on County Road 860 East.
Anyone with information about the incident may call the sheriff's department at 358-2141.
Officers Dustin Steward and Tom Barker as well as Reserve Officer Charlie Murphy assisted.
