(MARTINSVILLE) - A 14-year employee of the Indiana State Police has been arrested on charges of false informing.
39-year-old Ryan Harmon became a target of an internal investigation after he made allegations against a Martinsville city employee to the mayor and chief of police. He claimed the employee sexually battered a female at a Martinsville restaurant.
City officials then provided the information to Morgan County Prosecutor Steve Sonnega. He then contacted the Indiana State Police who investigated the alleged crime.
ISP officials determined the allegations against the city employees had been fabricated by Harmon. Prosecutor Sonnega determined there was sufficient evidence to file charges of false informing against Harmon.
A warrant was issued and Hammon was arrested Friday morning near the Martinsville courthouse square and taken to the Morgan County Jail. In lieu of termination from the Indiana State Police, he resigned from his position.
