(BLOOMINGTON) - IU student Brittney Young was selected as one of 40 students who will act as student ambassadors at the USA Pavilion for the 2012 World Expo in Yeosu, South Korea.
Young, who is proficient in Korean, will begin her role in May and will continue through August.
She will be greeting pavilion visitors, including foreign dignitaries and leaders.
The World Expo, also known as the World's Fair, is considered one of the three major global events, alongside the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.
The location of Yeosu will be used to generate discussion about the importance of oceans in an Expo themed, "The Living Ocean and Coast." The event will aim to find solutions to current environmental problems.
The pavilion, which will feature the theme of "Diversity, Wonder and Solutions," will be used to communicate diversity in U.S. culture.
