(MARTINSVILLE) - A judge has named a special prosecutor to investigate possible misconduct by employees of the Martinsville Schools.
Morgan County Judge G. Thomas Gray named Johnson County Deputy Prosecutor Doug Cummins to the case. Morgan County Prosecutor Steve Sonnega asked for a special prosecutor last week.
Sonnega asked state police to investigate in February after boys basketball coach Tim Wolf was arrested for public indecency in the company of a 17-year-old student. Wolf immediately resigned.
Sonnega said at the time that the school district agreed with the decision to bring in outside investigators.
More recently, second grade teacher and girls high school tennis coach Jeff McGown was accused this month, of misconduct with the same student found with Wolf. McCown is on paid administrative.
Cummins now will determine whether any criminal charges are warranted.
