(BEDFORD) - Shawswick Volunteer Firefighters put out kitchen fire quickly at the home of Craig Godsey.
"It just took seconds to put the fire out," said Shawswick VFD Chief Bobby Brown,. "The fire was on the kitchen counter and caught the curtains on fire."
Godsey, who lives at 2310 South Leatherwood Road, was not home when the fire started.
"He had ran to town and returned to the sound of the smoke detectors," Brown said. "We are not sure what caused the fire. He wasn't cooking and no one smokes in the home, so the cause is still under investigation."
Firefighters were called around 3:53 p.m. and were there about an hour.
Brown estimates there was under $5,000 in damages.
