(BEDFORD) - Bedford North Lawrence Junior Megan Mitchell made school history when she was elected to serve as a state officer for the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, a national student organization.
Mitchell was elected as vice president of Students Taking Action for Recognition or STAR. she is the first BNL student to hold a state office at FCCLA.
she will attend district and state meetings with other FCCLA officers. Her focus will be creating new STAR events.
In July, she will attend the national convention in Orlando, Fla. Mitchell, who was a member of her chapter's culinary team, hopes to become a chef.
