(UNDATED) - The National Weather Service has issued an increased threat for hazardous burning conditions today for Brown, Daviess, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Martin and Monroe counties including the cities of Bedford, Bloomington, Columbus and Seymour.
West winds sustained to 25 miles per hour along with gusts to 35 miles per hour late this morning and through early evening pose a risk.
In addition the relative humidity will drop to below 25 percent. This combination will create hazardous burning conditions late morning through early evening today.
Present indications are that the greatest fire danger threat is along and north of a Terre Haute to Muncie line.
Most small fuels have greened up considerably with the mild spring, however wooded or sheltered areas would hold the greatest chance of yielding dry fuels and that would enhance dangerous fire growth.
