(BEDFORD) - North Lawrence students will pay slightly more for lunch during the 2012-13 school year.
School board members approved the 10-cent increase.
In paperwork about the prices, Judy Bailey, food services director, wrote that federal law requires schools to provide "the same level of support for lunches served to students who are not eligible for free or reduced-price lunches."
The law requires schools "to gradually increase their lunch prices yearly until lunch prices reach $2.51." Because of that ruling, she wrote, she was asking for the increase in lunch prices.
All of the other costs remain the same.
The prices for 2012-13:
Student breakfast: $1.25.
Student lunch: $2.20.
Milk: 50 cents.
Reduced-price breakfast: 30 cents.
Reduced-price lunch: 40 cents.
Adult breakfast: $2.
Adult lunch: $3.
