(BEDFORD) - Bedford Police officers are investigating a stabbing that sent one man to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
Police received a call from the man who was stabbed, requesting an ambulance.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley the 23-year-old victim was at his home at 332 S Street when Matthew Johnson came to the home looking for the victim's brother.
"The two men then got into a verbal and physical confrontation," Parsley says. "Some punches were thrown and then the victim felt pain in his abdomen and realized he had been stabbed."
The victim, suffered an 8 inch stab wound to the left side of his abdomen and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Parsley says it is unknown at this time if he was admitted.
Police arrested 21-year-old Matthew Tyler Johnson, of Mitchell, on charges of battery with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury and residential entry.
