(ORLEANS) - Renita Johnson Ludwig was named the Orleans Dogwood Festival Citizen of the Year.
Johnson volunteers year-round to raise funds for the Orange County Relay for Life.
The announcement was made during the 2012 Orleans Dogwood Festival Queen Contest.
Ludwig attends the pageant every year, which meant those who had nominated her weren't left with finding a way to trick her into attending the event.
But the evening had brought an unusual set of circumstances, all three of her children: Cheyenne, Kyle and Shana attended.
Her two daughters live in Tell City and her son lives in Columbus. She is married to Gerald Ludwig.
Ludwig, who is employed at Paoli Inc., is a 1983 graduate of Orleans High School and an avid OHS sports fan, showing up at events supporting the Bulldogs and working endless hours in the concession stands.
