(EPSOM) - Six people were injured, two seriously, in a two-vehicle accident in northern Daviess County Tuesday evening.
It happened at 6:07 p.m. on County Road 650 E in Bogard Township.
Marlin D. Graber of rural Odon, driving a 2006 Dodge Ram Pick-up, southbound and and did not see an approaching northbound 1997 Lexus driven by 18 year old Marcus L. Knepp of Montgomery.
Both vehicles collided when Graber turned into his private drive. His pickup was pushed off the road and into a utility pole and came to rest between the pole and a
fence.
Graber, wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered leg pain and possible fractures. He was cited for failure to yield and a seatbelt violation.
Knepp's Lexus came to rest off the roadway, south of the pick-up..and police say neither he nor any of his several passengers were wearing seatbelts.
Knepp, his front seat passenger, 16 year old Wanda Knepp, and a rear passenger, Janice Graber, suffered minor injuries, cuts, and bruises.
Wanda Knepp was holding an infant, Jared Yoder, who suffered internal injuries and was taken to Daviess Community Hospital and then transferred by helicopter to a hospital
trauma unit in Louisville.
Another rear passenger, 16 year old Nora Jean Kemp of Montgomery was trapped
inside the car and suffered head injuries. She was also flown to Louisville.
Knepp was cited for not wearing a seat belt and not using a child restraint. Damage was estimated at $50,000.
