(BLOOMFIELD) - A Solsberry man, who walked away from the Greene County Community Corrections Center in Bloomfield in November 2011, has been apprehended.
Allen Eugene Dixon, Jr., 29, was arrested Tuesday on a Greene Superior Court warrant charging him with escape - a class C felony - by Greene County Sheriff's Department Special Deputy Justin Alsman, who serves as a jail officer.
Nick Schneider, of the Greene County Daily World reports, Dixon was in court Wednesday morning for an initial hearing on the escape charge.
Circuit Court Judge Erik Allen set a jury trial for Oct. 16. A pre-trial conference was set for Sept. 26.
Dixon was sought for months by police after he left the Community Corrections Work Release Center, located just north of the Greene County Jail, Nov. 26, 2011 without permission through an emergency fire escape door, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene Circuit Court by Lynn Wininger, Greene County Community Corrections executive director.
A warrant for Dixon's arrest was issued by Circuit Court Judge Erik Allen.
Dixon had been at the work release center since July 27, 2011 after he violated his probation on a Monroe County Circuit Court misdemeanor conviction for conversion. Judge Kenneth Todd revoked 108 days of a previously suspended sentence and ordered Dixon to serve out the remainder of his sentence in the Greene County Work Release Center.
Before he escaped, Dixon had an expected release date of Dec. 17, 2011.
Conviction of a class C felony carries a possible sentence of two to eight years and a fine up to $10,000.
