(BEDFORD) - St. Vincent De Paul Catholic School will hold an informational meeting for parents at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at the school on 18th Street.
The Bedford school offers classes fro students in preschool through eighth grade, and enrollment is open to all. It also has before and after school care.
The school will again participate in the Indiana voucher program. A voucher, according to information provided by ST. Vincent, is a state-funded scholarship that helps cover the cost of tuition at a private school. Qualifying students in grades one through eight can receive up to $4,500 per school year.
A student who has attended at least two semesters in an Indiana public school can qualify for a voucher to transfer to a private school. Vouchers also are available to students whose families meet income guidelines or who have received a tax credit scholarship.
Aside from vouchers, tax credit scholarships of at least $500 are available to students in some circumstances. But if a family qualifies for assistance but does not apply when the child first enters school, the family cold lose the opportunity for a voucher or scholarship.
Principal Beck Floyd encourages parents thinking about private school to attend the meeting and meet with St. Vincent officials.
