(COLUMBUS) - The steep increase in property tax bills sent to Columbus Township residents was the result of a missed deadline in 2010, according to the township trustee.
For a person owning a home with a taxable value of $90,000, the mistake amounts to a $311.76 increase from last year's tax bill.
The total 2011 rate for the township was roughly 35 cents higher than the 2010 rate for every $100 of taxable real and personal property, according to documents provided by the Bartholomew County Auditor's Office.
