(BEDFORD) - Bedford North Lawrence students will use peddle power to get to school today.
The BNL Bike Rally Kicks off at 7 a.m. Students are meeting in the parking lot of Tractor Supply on 16th Street and will depart at 7:15 a.m. for school.
Bedford Police Department officers will be posted along the way to give the bicyclists a clear path to school.
Motorist are asked not to pull into the path of the cyclists.
This is the fifth year for the rally, which began as a protest against spiking gas prices. Even though gas prices are still high, the focus of the rally has changed.
Proceeds from sponsorships and sales of T-shirts will be give to Glory Days Foundation, a cancer charity.
About 150 students participated last year.
