(BROWNSTOWN) - Two Jackson County residents face Class A felony charges related to the manufacture of methamphetamine after a traffic stop on Saturday afternoon in the Freetown area.
"I pulled up behind a vehicle in the parking lot of the post office," county Officer Jeff Walters said of the incident that led to the arrests of Samantha M. Brooks, 24, of Crothersville and Kenneth J. Loudermilk, 26, of Brownstown.
Aubrey Woods, of the Tribune, reports police said Brooks drove the vehicle away from the parking lot in the 4000 block of Union Street as he was pulling up around 5 p.m. Walters added he initially thought the driver might not stop.
Brooks, however, did stop the vehicle, and dur-ing a search of it, Walters said he found an active meth lab inside.
Brooks and Loudermilk were both arrested on Class A felony charges of manufacturing methamphetamine. They also each face charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and Legend Drug Act violations.
They were taken to Jackson County Jail in Brownstown by county Officer Adam Nicholson and were being held on $100,005 bonds on Sunday night.
Walters said as the vehicle pulled away from the post office, he saw some items being thrown from it, and those items were later recovered and identified as items used in making meth by Lt. Darin Downs of the sheriff's department.
An Indiana State Police Meth Suppression Team, including troopers Marty Mead and Matt Powell, was called to the scene to dismantle the lab.
