(LINTON) - A warrant was issued for the arrest of a Linton man accused of stealing scrap metal on private property in Grant Township.
Nick Schneider, of the Greene County Daily World reports, Joshua G. Adams is being sought in connection with an April 11 alleged theft of metal from property owned by Steve White and Jordan White on County Road 175N and County Road 600W near Switz City.
He will be charged with theft - a class D felony.
The property owners told Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce they saw a male - identified as Adams, and a female - identified as Jenny Phillips - allegedly taking scrap metal from a field. They said the metal was been placed there to stop erosion, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Greene Superior Court by Greene County Sheriff's Department Det. Chris McDonald.
Adams and Phillips provided police with two receipts for the sale of metal at J & M Recycling near Linton - amounting to $52.80 and $158.40.
The receipts were in Phillips' name, because Adams told police that he was not allowed to sell at J & M anymore because he owed them $30 from a previous transaction.
