(BEDFORD) - The White River Humane Society’s upcoming Bone Appetit promises thrills to all that attend and bid on items at their auction during the annual fundraiser April 21 at the Lawrence County Expo Hall.
Last year the auction and dinner raised almost $19,000. The funds raised provides food, shelter and medical care for hundreds of dogs and cats brought to the shelter each year.
The shelter needs donations and funraisers to stay afloat, according to Jamie Wires, shelter manager.
Bone Appetit is the shelter's most successful fundraiser. About 350 people attend each year. Most are animal lovers, but others are drawn to the opportunity for a good deal on auction items like restaurant gift cards, craft items, admission to zoos, oil changes, and pet care supplies and veterinary services.
Between the silent and live auction, bidders can place a bid on nearly 300 items. The WRHS volunteers have spent weeks calling on local businesses and past donors to contribute items for the auction.
The WRHS is still accepting donations for the live and silent auctions. To donate an item, call the shelter, 279-2457, and a volunteer will come and pick up your item.
