(NASHVILLE) -The Bald Eagles D-Day 68th Anniversary Dinner and Program is coming up. Organizer Floyd Crouse says the event is being held Friday, June 1.
James Hutchison will be a guest speaker at the event. Hutchison, a Bedford resident with 37 years of service in that city's school system, holds three degrees from Indiana University and is the author of three books. He also served as a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Army and Air Force. The theme of his talk will mimic that of his third book, entitled "The Boys In The B-17".
Crouse talked a bit about Hutchison's military career. Crouse says Hutchinson received three air medals for twenty combat missions flown over Germany during World War II. In fourteen of those missions, Hutchison was in what is called "the lead crew", leading the other bombers to their intended target. When the lead crew released their payload, the other bombers knew to do the same.
Crouse says this event, being held in the conference room of "The Seasons" in Nashville, is a must for those that appreciate the U.S. military and it's history. It begins at 6 p.m. Friday. You can take part be getting advanced tickets prior to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29. You can get those tickets by calling 812-988-7248, or by sending an email request to fac@aiba.net.
