(BEDFORD) - 36-year-old Christina Eads, who was struck by lightning Monday night, praised her son for saving her life.
Eads was cutting grass on her zero-turn mower at her Pinhook Road home when a storm began to move in. she started to head to the garage and that is when she was struck by lightning.
Juanita Thomas, Eads' mother found her hanging off the mower. Thomas then yelled for Eads 16-year-old son Colton Prince, who called 911.
The dispatcher told prince to get his mother off the lawn mower, lay her on her side and clear her airway.
The lightning melted the frames on Eads glasses, hit two nearby trees and burned a hole in the asphalt.
Eads suffered burn marks and bruises. She was admitted to the hospital where they are monitoring her heart, but she is expected to make a full recovery.
