(BLOOMINGTON) - 18-year-old Taiveon Taylor was arrested Saturday after he stole a vehicle and ran from police.
Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Lucas Tate says police were investigating a report of a man crashing a a stolen 1994 Chrysler LeBaron into a telephone pole near the intersection of South Rockport Road and West Graham Drive.
They found Taylor near the 400 block of South Rockport Road near Country View Apartments. Taylor allegedly jumped a fence and ran from police. They found him west of the apartment complex.
Taylor was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Jail. Taylor resisted jail staff, removed his belt and tried to use the buckle as a weapon. Jail staff was able to restrain Taylor and no one was injured during the altercation.
Taylor was charged with possession of a stolen property, resisting arrest, illegal consumption of alcohol.
This is not Taylor's first run-in with law enforcement this month, according to Monroe County Circuit Court records. On May 14, Taylor was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol and resisting law enforcement.
