(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington woman was arrested after police responded to a domestic fight in the 500 block of Hayes Road early Sunday morning.
Lisa Marie Vanleeuwen was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing in a controlled substance, and neglect of a dependent, a Class D felony; and booked into Monroe County Jail at 5:37 a.m.
Bloomington Police Detective Sgt. John Kovach says police went to the home at 3:47 a.m. because of a fight between 36-years-old Marie Vanleeuwen and her husband 38-year-old Dirk Vanleeuwen.
When officers arrived Marie Vanleeuwen was banging on the front door. She told police she had been locked out by her husban. Dirk Vanleeuwen told police he locked his wife out because she was on medications and he didn't want her around the children, who were inside.
Dirk Vanleeuwen told police his wife had given their 13-year-old daughter a strip of suboxone, a medication that had been prescribed to his wife for a previous addiction to opiates.
Marie admitted she given a small portion of the suboxone strip to her daughter, because her daughter had been smoking marijuana with a neighborhood friend and she didn't want her to become addicted.
Kovach, who interviewed the daughter, said her mother gave her the drug and said it would give her energy to clean the house, but it made her sick instead, Kovach said.
