(BROWNSTOWN) - Trustees with Brownstown Central Community School Corp. have begun considering a policy that would ban the use of tobacco products at any time on all school property.
Superintendent Roger Bane presented that policy revision, based in part on a new state law, during a meeting this week.
The present policy allowed for pass outs during athletic events, plays, concerts and other events at Brownstown schools, but the new police would ban those passes.
That ban would also extend to outside groups using school property for func¬tions. State law bans smoking within 8 feet of any door to any school building, but school officials want to move toward a smokefree environment on all school property.
