(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police investigated the death of a rabbit Wednesday morning, after receiving a call from a couple concerned its corpse could be a threat to their safety.
Sgt. John Kovach said officers responded to 511 S. Woodscrest Drive at 9:39 a.m. and examined a dead rabbit that had been partially buried in the landscaped area of the individuals' business.
Days previously, the couple said they had yelled at a group of people trying to steal a metal rod from their business, supposedly to sell it as scrap metal, Kovach said. They were concerned that the rabbit, which police said clearly appeared to not have been buried by an animal, might be an act of retaliation.
Because the cause of death of the rabbit can not be determined, the case will be marked inactive, Kovach said.
