(BEDFORD) - J. David George, president of the George Wealth Management Group in Bedford, was elected president of the Bedford Lions Club for 2012-2013 and will be installed along with other new officers at the club’s June 25 meeting.
George will succeed Bob Ruble as Lions Club president.
Other officers for the coming year include:
Clair Roub, first vice president; Jim Pentzer, second vice president; Jim Fisher, third vice president; Lee Cuba, secretary; Newell Clifton, treasurer; Jon Heichelbech, assistant treasurer; Ed Gilliatt, Lion tamer; Don Allen, tail-twister; Burel Houchin, membership director; Ken Brumbaugh, one-year membership committee, and Steve Warren, two-year membership committee; Bill Morris, attendance director; Don Turpen and Gary Ochs, one-year board members; Jan Allen and Neil Embree, two-year board members.
George, a Bedford native, is a 1984 graduate of Bedford North Lawrence High School and received a bachelor's degree with a finance concentration in 1989 from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. He spent nearly 16 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and its predecessors as a financial adviser and senior investment management specialist before deciding to return home to Bedford to form George Wealth Management Group.
He was instrumental in helping to resurrect the Fourth of July parade in Bedford by arranging to have a B-2 Stealth Bomber fly overhead. In addition, he was presented the key to the city of Bedford in 1997.
George and his wife, Susan, have two children, Adam and Lauren.
