(BLOOMFIELD) - A 51-year-old Jasonville woman faces a felony theft charge after she allegedly stole several items from the Casey’s General Store in Jasonville to give to her daughter as a belated birthday present.
Nick Schneider, of Greene County Daily World, reports that Carolyn Sue Russell, who lives on East Shanklin Street, has been issued a summons to appear in Greene Circuit Court on a class D felony theft charge at 9:15 a.m. on May 16.
Russell is accused of stealing a woman's purse on April 6 valued at $39.99, a change purse valued at $12.99 and a woman's necklace valued at $8.99 from the Casey's Store, located on State Road 48 on the westside of Jasonville, according to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court by Jasonville Assistant Police Chief James Gadberry.
Surveillance videotape from the store showed Carolyn Sue Russell entered the store with her son, Brandon Russell, and his girlfriend, Meghan Russell.
Brandon told police the three had come to the store to pick up a pizza.
In an interview with police, Carolyn Russell admitted to the thefts.
"Carolyn Sue Russell told me that her daughter's birthday had passed and that she (Sue) had promised the daughter that come the first of the month, she was going to get the purse for her," Officer Gadberry wrote in the probable cause affidavit.
