(BEDFORD) - Members of the four Lions Clubs in Lawrence County, with the assistance of Prevent Blindness Indiana, will conduct free vision screenings at two locations in Bedford.
The free screenings are scheduled at the St. Vincent Dunn Hospital Health Expo on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and at the Bedford Curves for Women celebration of National Women's Health Week on May 16 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 2121 16th St.
According to Jim Fisher, all those who attend will be screened for both near and distance acuity using an Optec 5000 visual testing machine and for proper peripheral vision using a Humphrey FDT visual field testing machine.
A written report is provided for each person screened, and if screening indicates, a recommendation for a professional eye exam will be made.
A family that cannot afford the expenditure may qualify for assistance from Prevent Blindness Indiana.
The clubs participating in the screenings include Bedford Lions, Noon Lions, Mitchell Lions and Fayetteville Community Lions.
