(LOOGOOTEE) - Loogootee Junior/Senior High School Class of 2012 will hold its graduation exercises at 7 p.m. Friday.
Following the processional, Austin Bradley, Student Council representative, will offer opening remarks. The National Anthem will then be led by the high school chorus, followed by two choral selections.
Bradley will then introduce the class speakers: Danielle Love, class secretary; Hannah LaMar, class valedictorian; Addison Dant, class president; Mariah Weisheit, class salutatorian; Becca Zins, class vice president; and Brooke Nonte, class treasurer.
Following a slide presentation, Larry Weitkamp, superintendent, John P. Mullen, principal, and Bill Powell, assistant principal, will present the diplomas. Remarks and presentation of the class by Mullen will be followed by the recessional.
The class will graduate under the motto "We are all one big family of people, trying to make our way through the unfolding puzzle of love." Author unknown. The class flower is the stargazer lily.
Hannah M. LaMar has been named Valedictorian of the Class of 2012. The daughter of Julie and Terry LaMar, she is a four-year member of Beta Club, Pep Club, Spanish Club (treasurer, senior year), tennis team and volleyball team. She was a member of the basketball team during her junior and senior years. She is a member of St. John's Catholic Youth Group, where she participates in community service projects. She plans to attend the University of Evansville for an undergraduate degree in athletic training followed by a graduate degree in physical therapy.
Mariah N. Weisheit was named Salutatorian. She is the daughter of Jim Weisheit and Tracy Anderson. She is a four-year member of Beta Club, Spanish Club (historian, senior year), Student Council, cheerleader and volleyball team. During her junior and senior year she was a member of the Pep Club and was class treasurer of her sophomore and junior class. She plans to attend Indiana University Southeast for an undergraduate degree in medical biochemistry.
