(MITCHELL) - Just days after formally accepting the resignation of Darin Farris, school leaders could be close to naming a new principal for Mitchell Junior High School.
The school board has scheduled an executive session for 6 p.m. today in the administration building.
The board also has scheduled a public meeting to be conducted at the close of the executive session.
Farris stepped down as principal to take a job at Eastern Junior-High School in Pekin. His resignation is effective June 30. The day after that, his contract starts for his new job. The new position will allow him to be closer to home. Farris and his family live within a few minutes of Eastern.
Administrators have interviewed six people for Farris' position and two of those names were submitted to the board for further interviews tonight. Depending upon how those interviews a new principal could be named tonight.
