(ORLEANS) - The Inaugural Orange County Music and Heritage Reunion is Friday, Saturday and Sunday June 8, 9 and 10, 2012 on the Orleans Congress Square.
Keeping the spirit and tradition of the former Lotus Dickey Hometown Reunion which ended last year music continues to be the core of the Reunion.
The free event has over 40 hours of traditional, folk, roots and bluegrass music on two stages featuring local talent and students from 5 to 60 years of age. Music on the stages on Friday is from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday's music runs from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday is noon to 6 p.m.
The Heritage portion includes interpretive displays about the tiny Orange County settlements of Punkin Center and Valleene. Kids will appreciate the games and heritage animals from pioneer days. Saving Historic Orange County will demonstrate restoration techniques for old sash windows and stained glass. A "penny farthing" bicyclist, a juggler and clown will wander the square. Food and craft vendors will be scattered around the park as well. Bring your lawn chairs and blanket.
Saturday's events include the HomeGrown Farmers Market all morning, music jamming under the sycamore tree and the community heritage and antique tractor displays during daylight hours.
Check the website "musicandheritagereunion.org" and on Facebook "music and heritage reunion" or "orange county music and heritage reunion" for the full schedule of who is playing and when.
