His 1992 Ford F-150 truck hit a 2004 Mac tandem dump truck, driven by 23-year-old Gregory S. Wagler, of Morgantown. The truck is owned by Young Trucking Company, of Unionville.
Kirk was trapped in his truck and had to be rescued by emergency personnel from Richland Township Fire Department and the Bloomfield Fire Department.
Hasler says partof Ind 54 was closed for about an hour.
Hasler, says Kirk suffered numerous lacerations and a possible broken leg.
First responders had requested an AirEvac medical helicopter, but the request was denied because of heavy overcast weather conditions.
Kirk was transported by Greene County Ambulance Service to IU Health Bloomington where he was admitted and listed in fair condition Saturday morning, according to hospital spokesperson.
