(PEKIN) - Authorities are still not releasing many details about a fire in Pekin Wednesday morning that involved a camper. The body of a man was found inside.
Jeff Thomas, Pekin Town Marshal, said Thursday afternoon that authorities were still trying to locate a daughter before releasing a name. He said the Washington County Sheriff's Department was putting together a press release.
Pierce-Polk firefighters were called to the scene, on Old Pekin Road, just before 7:30 a.m.
They found a fully involved camper and were told there was possibly someone inside. The camper was located near the Mould Rite building.
Jackson Township VFD was also called to provide mutual aid but the fire was under control before units arrived. Thomas, Sheriff Claude Combs and Captain Roger Newlon were also called to the scene as was an investigator from the State Fire Marshal's office.
