(ODON) - A benefit dinner and silent auction to help cover medical expenses will be held July 13 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Odon Community Building for the Jake Miller family.
The benefit will help Jake, Amy (Cornelius) Miller, and their son Logan cover costs related to medical bills. Jake has been in various hospitals for extended stays since the beginning of the year, spending about 60 days under medical care.
Jake was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome in February 2002, which is an inherited disorder of connective tissue that affects the heart, bones, joints, eyes, spine and lungs. Jake currently has been diagnosed with stage 4 COPD, congestive heart failure, has eye and back problems, and is battling with pneumonia and bronchitis. Jake will also require heart surgery in the near future.
The community has organized the "Help Jake Fight Marfan Syndrome" benefit to support this great Christian family. The Hog Roast Community Dinner will begin at 5 p.m., and carry out will be available. The silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. and end around 7 p.m. The event will also include a bake sale, along with entertainment for the evening.
The North Daviess Cub Scouts Pack 447 will be sponsoring the event, as Jake, Amy, and Logan have dedicated years to scouting.
If you would like to donate money, a baked item, or something for the silent auction, contact Angela Bray 259-4557, Jamie Bass 617-1498 or Amy Miller 257-9501.
