(BLOOMINGTON) - 46-year-old Rodney Cordell “Memphis” Hairston was arrested after he got into a dispute with a man over $20.
According to police Hairton was arrested Friday morning on charges of pointing a firearm, battery and intimidation.
According to Bloomington Police, a 21-year-old man say he was walking in the 1300 block of West 13th Street about 9:45 a.m. Friday, when he was approached by a man, who he knows only as "Memphis." The man told police he owes Memphis $20.
The man says "Memphis" asked about the money, and then pulled out a black, semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at him. He told police he was hit across the face with the gun, cutting his lip.
The man gathered a few friends and family members, who went looking for Hairston. They were armed with a club. They found Hairston on the 1300 block of North Kinser Pike, where Hairston allegedly pointed the gun at the group.
Hairston then left and went into an apartment on the 1400 block of West Illinois Court, and called police.
Hairston told police he did not have gun but had used a pipe.
At least three people reported seeing Hairston with the handgun, according to the report.
Police searched for the gun on Friday and did not find the weapon.
The case is still under investigation.
