(BLOOMINGTON) - An ex-boyfriend of a 24-year-old Bloomington woman forced his way into her home Friday afternoon and assaulted her.
Police say the man hit and choked the woman before smashing the telephone when she tried to dial for help.
Police who are still looking for a 25-year-old man, went to the woman's home in the 2400 block of South Winslow Court shortly after 2 p.m
The woman told police the two had a prior relationship, but they had not dated for more than a year.
Police say the man continued to attack the woman until the woman's two children, ages 3 and 6, entered the room. After the man released her, the woman reached for a telephone, but the man grabbed the phone and smashed it and then ran from the home.
Police said when the suspect is arrested, he will face preliminary charges for two felonies, residential entry and strangulation.
In addition, he could be charged with misdemeanors for battery, interfering with the reporting of a crime and criminal mischief.
