(BEDFORD) - Putting the focus on small businesses in the local community is the goal of a public open house Saturday.
The event, which will help celebrate June as Limestone Month in Lawrence County, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Thorne's location on Ind. 37.
The event will include a live radio broadcast with Andy Mullen from Super Oldies 105.5 WQRK, a corn hole tournament, a child car seat fitting station sponsored by St. Vincent Dunn Hospital, food, children's activities and displays by local businesses.
The open house will not only feature homes available through Thorne's Homes Inc., but is open to any vendors and small businesses. Those interested in setting up a booth are urged to call 275-4656 or send an email to amberthorne@comcast.net.
Vendors already signed up will showcase a variety of specialities, from spas, insurance and food operations to independent direct sales consultants and nonprofit fundraising sales.
The corn hole tournament starts at 11 a.m., with registration beginning at 10:30 a.m. The cost is $10 per team, with 100 percent payout. Also on tap for Saturday are events and activities geared toward children, including a bounce house, a fire truck from the Bedford Fire Department and an appearance by Elmo from Sesame Street.
