(TASWELL) - An early morning fire Wednesday destroyed Ponder Boats just outside of Taswell.
The fire broke out at about 6:30 a.m. One of the company's owners was working on one of the boats when the fire broke out.
The fire quickly spread and had totally engulfed the building by the time firefighters arrived. The co-owner was found unconscious but alive lying in a corner of the building. He was taken to the hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. English Fire Chief Mike Beanham says the Ponder Sales building was completely destroyed as were 16 boats on site. He says it's not known which ones were for sale and which ones were in for service. Another 8 boats were slightly damaged.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. A state arson investigator has also been called in.
