(HURON) - Firefighters from four volunteer fire departments battled a house blaze and the blistering heat Thursday morning.
Huron, Marion, Indian Creek and Williams Firefighters rotated duties while extinguishing the blaze and to rest and rehydrate.
TOPS was at the scene providing needed fluids to firefighters, while temperatures hovered above 100 degrees.
According to Huron Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mark Jones says the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived just after 7 a.m. a home just north of Huron on Huron Williams Road.
"The home was vacant and there was no power to the residence," Jones says. "The home was destroyed and so was a vehicle that was parked near the house."
Jones is not sure who owns the home. Firefighters were told the home was in foreclosure.
Hayes says the cause of the fire is still under investigation and the state fire marshal will be on the scene today to try and determine the cause.
No one was injured while battling the blaze and Jones says firefighters were lucky that no one was overcome by the heat.
"It's a wonder," Jones says. "It was extremely hot, so we rotated firefighters in and out so no one would suffer heat exhaustion. We took lots of break and everyone was rehydrating. We were all pretty tired afterwards."
