(UNDATED) - A new study says women who drink some alcohol while they are pregnant might not be hurting their unborn children after all, but a professor from the IU Medical School doesn’t buy it.
The series of studies from Denmark found that a mother having up to eight drinks a week during pregnancy did not affect the IQ level of their children up through the age of five.
Dr. Kelly Casper, an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at IU School of Medicine, says she is taking the studies with a grain of salt.
Casper says the study did not look at other effects alcohol has on unborn children, nor whether any complications were showing up after the age of five.
