(JUDAH) - The Judah Hertitage Festival kicked off Thursday with a gospel music and will end Saturday with a 5k run/walk, live music and fireworks.
Kim Henry, President of the Judah Heritage Group, says this is the eighth year for the annual event and is a fundraiser for the Judah Park, which, after years of planning, is beginning to take shape. The group bought a one-acre tract across from the Judah Clinic.
The park will have a community building, walking path, basketball goals, playground equipment and benches.
Saturday's parade is at 4 p.m. Parade grand marshal is Dr. L. Grange, who works at the Judah Clinic.
One fund raiser is called "Soak A Girgis." Festival-goers can donate to determine which member of the Girgis family will get soaked when a giant balloon hanging above one of them is burst. Drs. Medhat and Kamal Girgis and Mayor Shawna Girgis will be at the Judah Festival Saturday. The Girgis with the most donations will be soaked. Donations can be made between 1-2:30 p.m.
