(DOANS) - A Daviess County man was found passed out in his pickup truck in the middle of the road Thursday morning.
The truck was blocking County Road 625E, about one mile north of State Road 58 - near Doans.
A passerby tried unsuccessfully to wake up 29-year-old Darrell L. Kemp, of Montgomery, who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel, by knocking on the truck window.
The witness then called police at 8:58 a.m. and Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Brad Decker was dispatched to the scene, located in Jackson Township.
Deckard also had trouble reviving the suspect and summoned a Greene County Ambulance unit.
Eventually, Kemp was awaken and that's when his legal problem started.
Police found a quantity of methamphetamine on Kemp, according to Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce.
Kemp was arrested on a preliminary charge of possession of methamphetamine - a class D felony.
Pierce said he could not speculate whether Kemp was under the influence of the confiscated illegal drug, but he was obviously sleeping very soundly.
No bond is set pending a court appearance.
