(BLOOMINGTON) - 25-year-old Kyle A. May, has been arrested and charged with the arson after he crashed a car and then set it on fire.
According to Monroe County Sheriff James Kennedy, police received a call on Thursday reporting a vehicle fire at 3907 McDougal Street in Bloomington.
Perry Clear Creek Fire Department responded.
According to Kennedy the vehicle have been reported to be involved in several accidents and then left the scene of the crashes.
Bloomington Police were investigating those accident when they received the call about the vehicle fire.
According to Kennedy, May decided to set the car on fire and report the vehicle stolen in an attept to cover up the vehicle being involved in the other crashes.
May is accused of pouring gasoline in the rear seat and on the floorboards of the vehicle and then setting it on fire.
Kennedy says the vehicle was close to a home on McDougal Street when May allegedly set it on fire and the heat from the blaze caused damage the home.
Everyone that was in the home was evacuated and no one was harmed.
May was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.
