(OOLITIC) - Oolitic Police are investigating the theft from a vehicle on the 600 block of West 9th Street. According to Oolitic Deputy Town Marshall Bill Allen someone threw a rock through the window of a vehicle and stole a purse that was left inside the locked vehicle.
Another vehicle was broke into the same way in the 900 block of Mathis Avenue, but nothing was taken from the vehicle.
"We think they got scared and fled before taking anything," Allen says.
Allen warns residents not to leave valuables inside of vehicles and if you must to put them in the trunk out of plain sight. He also stresses to keep vehicles locked and to remove your garage door opener. He says they provide easy access for criminals to enter your home.
"Those provide easy access for someone to enter your home," Allen warns. "I now it is a pain, but it's better than having your home broke into."
Anyone with information on the break-ins are asked to call police.
