(ORLEANS) - Orleans Town Clerk Robert F. Henderson said the Ball State team is spending several months working with community representatives developing strategies and recommendations for the redevelopment of historic downtown Orleans and the enhancement of the community.
The highlight of the project will be a three-day Charrette and/or Community Visioning Workshop set for July 12-14.
This workshop has a broader agenda as it focuses on the downtown's future as impacted by traffic pattern changes, need to coordinate parking and way finding efforts, expand the user base for the downtown and consider new uses for under-utilized parts of the downtown.
All of these issues will be framed in new understanding of energy conservation and sustainability principles.
For the charrette the team will be set-up at the Orleans Christian Church, Unity Hall listening and sharing thoughts and ideas with community members.
Everyone is invited to stop by and talk with the team and share ideas and concerns Henderson said. More details and schedule will be released at a later date.
