(PATOKA) - The Department of Natural Resources closed the beach and beach area at Patoka Reservoir as was announced in a media release on Tuesday.
However, other news outlets are reporting that the boat ramps are closed as well.
Jeff Dukes, owner of Hoosier Hills Marina on Patoka Lake, says that it is not true - that the boat ramps are still open for use by local boaters.
Dukes says that markers have been placed in shallow water areas to assist boaters in avoiding those hazards.
Dukes supports the decision to close the beach area saying that the water levels are too shallow near steep drop offs.
